Breage Parish Council has received an S106 Community Facilities Contribution towards maintenance or improvement of community facilities in Breage Village.
This contribution comes from the Developers of Phase 3, Land adjacent to St Breaca Close, Breage, now called Penbro Way and Penbro Vean.
A request has been received from Breage Village Hall towards large repair and renewal work to the floor and walls in the Hall.
If you are a Group that is responsible for looking after buildings in Breage Village that are used for Community Facilities and are in need of maintenance or improvement and you wish to make a request for help from this contribution please make a written request containing at least two quotes for the required work to:

The first residents of a DCH housing scheme in Breage have moved into their new homes in Penbro Way.
Local people moved into their new homes in June. The prominently located site close to the village centre includes18 affordable homes for local people, 14 for rent and four for shared ownership as well as six open market homes. The first open market homes are due to complete in the coming months, when the new development will be fully occupied.
Richard Connolly, Group Development Director at DCH said: “We are delighted that our first residents have moved into their homes and are looking forward to welcoming more residents as they move in. We have been overwhelmed at the positive contributions from the local community toward this scheme both at the initial planning stages, through the challenging weather conditions this winter and now with the phenomenal sales interest and completions. “
The recently completed scheme has seen £317,998 investment from the Homes and Communities Agency. Rented properties were allocated to Cornwall Homechoice applicants in the highest band with a preference to those who have a local connection to the parish.
DCH has worked closely with Cornwall Council and Breage Parish Council to design and deliver a scheme which will meet identified local needs. The affordable homes are built to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which means residents should benefit further from reduced fuel and water bills.
Cornwall Councillor, John Keeling said: “I am absolutely delighted with this very successful scheme that has helped so many local families into homes. The project had support both from the parish council and many local people who acknowledged the desperate need for homes in rural areas and particularly those of our young people. Local needs and affordable housing has always been a key priority for me and this well designed, well laid out scheme ticks all the boxes. Moreover, I have had very favourable comments from some of the first residents who recently moved into their new homes.”
Richard Connolly added: “DCH is offering a unique range of homes to local families. At Breage, new homes for both open market sale (including the Help to Buy product with a low deposit requirement); shared ownership (part rent and part buy) and for affordable rent (80% market rent inclusive of service charges) have been provided at this beautiful rural development.”
DCH will be celebrating The National Housing Federations’ Rural Housing Week next week which aims to raise awareness of the value of affordable housing in keeping local communities and villages alive and Breage is an example of DCH’s commitment to delivering rural housing where there is need.
