GWR Update
Published: 06 December 2024
This is just a quick reminder of the Network Rail improvement works taking place from Tuesday 10 December to Thursday 12 December between Westbury and Newbury.
Services between the southwest and London Paddington will be diverted via Swindon between Taunton and Reading. Some of these services will also be diverted via Westbury with others being diverted via Bristol Temple Meads instead. As a result of these diversions, there will only be very limited stopping services between Westbury and Swindon. Trains between London Paddington/Reading and Bedwyn will terminate at Newbury with replacement buses planned between stations affected.
Rail replacement services will run between Westbury and Newbury, stopping at Trowbridge, Melksham and Chippenham. Passengers can then change at Chippenham for trains to Swindon. Replacement buses will also run between Pewsey and Swindon.
These buses may be delayed by additional traffic diverted away from the A36 due to an ongoing road closure at Limpley Stoke.
Online journey planners have been updated and more information is available at www.gwr.com/wessex.
